Using the HDMI out as a HDMI in

Fri Jun 14, 2013 9:28 am

Hey guys

I've been searching for this. Is it possible to use the HDMI out on the Raspberry Pi as an HDMI in? I got a TV box which gets me an HDMI out of the tv signal and I would like to get the Raspberry Pi the hdmi signal, and the stream it out on my network, so I can watch tv on my computer when I'm in another room.

Could this be possible? If not, do I have other options?

No , this is impossible.

People have been talking for ages about abusing the CSI port for
that , but have realised that without using significant
amounts of the human resources of the foundation or
offering Broadcom a multimillion dollar deal nothing is
going to happen.

Not only is it not possible to put HDMI signals into the RPi's HDMI socket, you wouldn't be able to stream them anyway. HDMI carries uncompressed video. That's hundreds of Mbit/s even for standard definition TV. The RPi's ethernet port cannot handle that even if its CPU/GPU could.
