The little cylindrical thingy

I'd set my pi up xbmc style and love exploring the myriad of channels available but t'other day the little cylindrical thingy fell off! Is it a resistor? Does it matter that I can still watch the telly without it or am I heading for a catastrophy? Thanks in advance for your help on this

It shouldn't be a problem, if you have a good psu.

Just helps to regulate the 5V from your power supply. Not a big deal, unless you're using a really low quality PSU.

Oh you mean you broke off your power supply plug/unplug convenience handle?

You can solder another one on. And 220mF + at 16vdc + will do.

sigh... no its not a "thumb rest". Its a "reservoir to smooth out ripples in the power".

P.S. in our lingo its called a "top hat elco", I think Panasonic is the main manufacturer of them.
