Wheezy doesn't work

Hello there, bought my rasp yesterday. I tried 4-5 OS which didnt work for me. Today i found Arch Linux, which seems to be the only operating system that works for my microSD (sandisk 32gb 30m/s stuff).

I don't want to use Arch Linux because its too hard for me, i need something with a nice GUI. (doesnt seem to work to download the Arch Linux gui either... (the pacman stuff).

Do anyone got any suggestions, what i can do? I want to run Wheezy or some other nice GUI OS. Thanks!

If the square chip in the middle of the board is marked 'Hynix' (and that is the case for most of the recently manufactured RPis) then then you MUST use the 2013-02-09 version (or later) of Raspian Wheezy available on the page reached by clicking 'Downloads' at the top of this page. Many other old OSs won't work either. See the 'public service announcement', actually the RPi's second best kept secret, at http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/3534‎.

The distributors should be putting a piece of paper, with that information in large letters, stuck to every RPi they sell.

Thanks A LOT! It works now. I have another problem though. I used the same keyboard to my real computer (works perfectly fine)
But in my raspberry, the keys randomly "keeps pressing" so when im writing, it goes like thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis, so i can barely log in (in fact, ive not been able to write "raspberry" as password yet)

Do you know any solution to this?

This problem has been reported since the very first RPis got into the wild. Most often it is due to the USB hardware/software implementation in the RPi. It is being worked on and the situation is improving. See the 'fiq testing' sticky at the top of the list of 'Troubleshooting' topics if you want gory details. Especially the last few days posts which mention keyboards.

Most people find that the £/$/€5 wired keyboards work fine. Wireless ones, especially Microsoft wireless ones, seem to give more trouble than wired ones.

There is a version of the firmware you can use, linked in the thread, which fixes the problem.

Encountered the same issue today. I followed the link on the Quick Start guide that still points to the old Raspbian version "2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.zip ".
Had to search forum and come thru this thread. Thanks.
