I'm using the OpenELEC XBMC RPi distro. I've followed instructions on how to play Karaoke files (.kar extension) at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HO ... or_Karaoke
On my Fedora laptop XBMC Karaoke works fine, loading libtimidity into system/.xbmc/temp and playing .kar files. The Timidity lib exists in /usr/lib/xbmc/system/players/paplayer/ on the RPi, just like on the laptop. But on the RPi it doesn't attempt to load the Timidity library and just heads straight into trying to decode using libavcodec and fails. Any clues about why XBMC on the RPi isn't loading the Timidity lib?

Re: Karaoke on the OpenElec XBMC fails
OpenELEC probably doesn't have timidity installed. It's a bare-bones system designed to be fast. You might want to investigate XBian or Raspbmc.
