Raspian and Debian armhf

Raspian and Debian armhf.

I notice that with the release of Debian 7.0 (wheezy) there is now an armhf architecture in Debian.

That prompts me to wonder:
Does Debian armhf make Raspian redundant now, or will it?
What are the differences, if any, between Debian armhf and Raspian.

No Debian for armhf cannot run on the Pi, because it only supports ARMV7+ processors. The Pi uses an ARMV6 processor.

I thought there was a catch.
Everytime I look into the myriad of ARM versions and variants I get very confused.
