Raspberry Pi + Arduino for Hydroponic Automation

Sat Apr 13, 2013 12:07 am

Hi, I've just posted a second video demonstrating a control panel that we're building for automating a hydroponic food production facility. It uses a Pi as the primary site controller (data storage, ssh/rdp, native programs) to send commands to an Arduino Uno that then reads sensors and turns things on and off. We're looking for technologists interested in these area. The project website is http://hapihq.com. Here's the latest demo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stDIlUAPzRM

Thanks,
Tyler

Very interested! I have been working on a project similar, setting up a home made ec meter that is monitored by the Pi. I have been looking into automation with electric Solenoids that would release nutrient solutions and ph correction fluid on its own by reading PH and EC with PPM conversion. The tough part I have run into is these sensors when submerged for long periods of time float off calibration rather quickly (without very expensive startup equipment, considering my "brain" is $35 i dont want to spend 200$ for a single sensor.) Curious your work and if you have met these challenges?
