WINTV 1950 setup on rasbian

Fri Apr 12, 2013 1:09 am

I installed rasbian wheezy, and plugged in my wintv-hvr-1950, and dmesg states that pvrusb2 cant find the encoder v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw

anyone have any idea on where to find and how to setup this firmware?

I've searched google endlessly for days, to no avail.

dmesg:
----------
[ 42.514544] pvrusb2: ***WARNING*** Device encoder firmware seems to be missing.
[ 42.514568] pvrusb2: Did you install the pvrusb2 firmware files in their proper location?
[ 42.514580] pvrusb2: request_firmware unable to locate encoder file v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
[ 42.514972] pvrusb2: registered device video0 [mpeg]

Use google ;)

https://github.com/jolicloud/linux-firm ... 41x-enc.fw
Probably you need to copy that file to /lib/firmware directory.

We tried the Europian (WinTv HVR 1900 Pal, DVB-C/T) version of the tuner with no luck. The smsc usb hub on the RasPi made unusable it for DVB-C because of the missing usb packets (continuity errors). The analog receiver is not well supported on linux in our case, but this may depend on hardware revision, too.
