Not getting ordered license keys (again)

Sun Mar 31, 2013 9:14 am

Hi There,

I placed a 2sc order for MPEG/VC1 license keys for 2 new PI's last monday. Unfortunately I have not received these 4 keys yet. I think the automatical key-mailer is broke at RaspPI? :(

My order number is: #57396

With kind regards,

Matthijs in 't Anker

I'm guessing that since you've not posted about this again, your keys turned up. But it's worth flagging this up again for everybody: if you do not have the keys you ordered even after 72 hours, please check your spam folder carefully!

This is a particularly difficult problem for us to deal with, because if your spam filter is set to bin our mails, the mails we send in response to your "where is my licence key?" mail won't be seen either.

The spam filter problem is one of two reasons people don't get their keys. The second one is very simple: some people mistype their email addresses in the order form. (And then swear blind they didn't; we get to see what you originally typed, though, and there are some real doozies there, from people who misspell their own names to people whose hands are positioned one key to the left or the right of where they should be.) If that's the case, please mail the store address with your correct email, and we'll get it sorted. Emma has to deal with these instances by hand, though, so you may not get an immediate response. Thanks!

The usual ways to get around that sort of problem is to require the email address to be entered twice or send an email to the claimed address to get confirmation before ordered submitted.
Makes it a bit more cumbersome for the end-user but should reduce the overhead at RPi HQ.
