USB Hard Drive Issue.

Mon Mar 11, 2013 4:55 pm

Hi,

I have plugged in a USB hard drive so that I can use my Pi as a torrent slave, but the problem is, when the Pi turns the monitor off due to no interaction, the HDD will unmount, and when I come back to it later, obviously all the torrents have stopped.

Also, I have to mount and set a mount directory every time I power up the Pi which is not convenient. I'm sure there must be a way around this, but I have not been able to find the answer on here so far.

I am using Raspbian.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

how have you got it all setup?

editing /etc/kbd/config and changing BLANK_TIME=30 will stop the screen switching off after a reboot

adding a line in
/etc/fstab
you will get an auto mount setup.

More info. on auto-mounting and editing /etc/fstab can be found in the wiki eg. http://elinux.org/RPi_Adding_USB_Drives

Still running Raspbian Jessie or Stretch on some older Pi's (an A, B1, 2xB2, B+, P2B, 3xP0, P0W, 2xP3A+, P3B+, P3B, B+, and a A+) but Buster on the P4B's. See: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/raspiidx.htm
