Hello newbie here

Hi. I just received my Pi and just got it on the internet today. I am totally new to the computer, to Linux and Python as well. Could someone please point me in the right direction to get started learning how to use Linux and how to get Python up and running? Thanks in advance.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I am definitely interested in coding, specifically writing programs in Python. I am learning about using the gpio through the adafruit lessons. My interest right now specifically is in interfacing the computer to external devices, robotics, etc. I will look at the magpie magazine, and thanks again.

Depending on where your starting http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/2965 link at the bottom also there are quite a few Python eBooks online that are free. Search out wiring Pi I really like that one for interfacing but a few other libraries do exist.
