Robot - Help & Name for bot needed!

Sat Mar 02, 2013 3:04 pm

Hi,
I'm 12, and not that new to programming (started developing for Android and then Windows).
I have taken instructions from these 2 links, but I need some help with this link:

http://thingswatihavedonewithmyraspberr ... th-my.html This makes the motors rotate clockwise 5 seconds, then anti-clockwise 5 seconds. How do I make this just rotate forwards then I can stop it when need be.

I also need to add a DS Lite screen to the front.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bottom-Lower-Sc ... 536&sr=1-4 Will this ribbon cable connect to the dsi on the Pi?

The arm link: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-a-USB-Roboti ... 8Maplin%29
(Yes, BigTrak crossed with a Robotic Arm from Maplin!) If there is any code wrong, just say so i can correct it.

I also need a name, so help there if possible. Soon I will develop an Android app for my tablet controlling the Arm, BigTrak and what is displayed on the screen.

Regards,
Ryan

I can not answer all the questions as I don't know but the screen will not work :( Adafruit and others sale small screens that can be wired to the GPIO pins https://www.adafruit.com/products/618 I would have to dig through some bookmarks to find some tutorials on the forums of how to get it working.

As for a name http://www.themagpi.com/ has articles of something similar called "Skutter" as it function similarly to the robot on Red Dwarf. I like "Skutter" you could upgrade the name to "two point oh" you can also get some code samples from the magazine to help with motion.

Thank you. I have a broken DS Lite at home, may just throw it away now. Thank you for the name too, add it to my list!

Glad to help but even happier to see you going at it. Put the DS on eBay take the money and buy more parts  But here is a sample video of a small color screen and some of what can be done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMQJmVDgAl8
