When Liz, Eben and the rest of the team finally got down the pub on Tuesday, were they able to buy a pint, did the landlord ask them to register an interest in buying a pint and leave them standing at the end of the bar or did they go across the road to another pub to check what price they were selling their beer for?

I'll get me coat.

The bar was heaving – five coach loads of tourists had turned up, even though they had been told the pub would be fairly quiet that night.

So they got in a queue and waited. People kept pushing in. By the time they got to the bar, the beer they wanted had run out and the peanuts were 10p more than advertised.

Despite this they were quite civil to all and sundry. They didn't tell the barman that they hated him or the landlord that she hadn't got a __ clue how to run a pub.

They got served eventually, the beer was lovely and it was a great evening

Don't forget, the venue was changed at the last minute and a commonly accepted method of payment wasn't available at the new venue.

In the pub over the road, only one member of bar staff had heard about beer and all they could do was get you to write your name down for a pint - a list that got lost early on in the evening.

But worst of all, some supporters for another team heard that there was really cheap beer going and crashed the party.

All right for some. My closest drinking place to work doesn't even sell beer. Just John Smith's wee, lagerpee and Newcastle brown ale...which we have to pretend is beer.
