Installing DropBox

Sun Feb 24, 2013 5:03 am

Downloaded from here https://www.dropbox.com/install?os=lnx then tried to run the deamon per the instructions, got this error:
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ .dropbox-dist/dropboxd
/home/pi/.dropbox-dist/dropbox: 1: /home/pi/.dropbox-dist/dropbox: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

Do I need to edit a file, or, since this download is for regular Debian (32bit), do I need to compile the source code on my Pi to work with ARM processors? I have read that other people have DropBox on their Pis, but maybe not with Wheezy?
Maybe I should just make my Pi-dock into a NAS with a usb hard drive and forget about the internet "cloud" type stuff.
Thanks for the help, good-night,
TomJ

The link you've provided only shows pre-complied binaries for 32 and 64 bit Intel archicture and not ARM. So starting from there your only only option would be to get the source and compile it.

Several links selected from a Google search, and the first two are from this forum:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 29&t=28623
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... =30&t=7391

http://mitchtech.net/dropbox-on-raspberry-pi-via-sshfs/
http://harizanov.com/2012/08/dropbox-sh ... spberrypi/

So far (a couple of minutes) I've not seen a link reporting that this has been done. The first link above poses your same question but does not reach or provide a conclusion.

Thank you DB.
No excuse for not doing that myself, just lazy and old I guess.
The "Roll your own dropbox" link is just what I was looking for,
I was using Dropbox until I could get my Pi set up like that.
He even has an image available with all the downloading and installing done.
Yes, there is that lazy coming out again, but I can just switch SD cards when I want to
take Franken-Pi traveling.
