Question about RP wifi connections

Thu Feb 21, 2013 4:58 pm

I want to use the Pi in my car and I want to connect my N7 to the Raspberry Pi.

Now what I have read is I must connect the Raspberry Pi through ethernet but is there a way I can connect my Raspberry Pi to a mobile hotspot then use that wifi and connect to the N7?

I am using my Nexus 7 as my car dash unit but I want my 2 monitors in the back seat to connect with the N7. As many know there is no easy way to do this but a Raspberry Pi may work.

I need to use the N7 and use Android Transporter. http://esrlabs.com/android-transporter- ... pberry-pi/

But here it says the Raspberry Pi must be connected to a router, instead of a router can I wifi connect it with a mobile hotspot?

The Pi can use a USB wifi adapter. Lots of posts here to search for more info.

You would need 2 WiFi adaptors, one connecting to a WiFi Hotspot, the other to connect the Pi to Nexus 7, there is a good poser !

The the Nexus 7 supports Bluetooth maybe the you could use Bluetooth PAN instead of Wifi between the Pi and N7 ?

Good luck !

I just enabled WiFi hotspot function on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2, plugged this $9 WiFi dongle https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi-ac ... Fi-dongle) into the Pi, connected to the SSID with the password I set on the phone, and started internetting.

Easy. Fast.
