DTS to analogue - bass problem

Wed Feb 20, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi there,

My Pi is loaded with Raspbmc (xbmc) and it's working great, but..

When I play a movie that has DTS, the Pi converts it to my analog simpel stereo output and that's where I loose the quality of low tones. The bass, during an explosion for example, sounds like somebody steps on a bag of dorito's. Crunching/cracking sound at the low end of the spectrum.

This only happens with DTS.

Pi (model b) - Raspbmc (latest) - DTS sound in XBMC - Stereo-jack out - Yamaha amplifier

Hope this is some kind of small decoding issue :)

Cheers, Thijs

Maybe I can route the DTS sound trough HDMI to my TV and then from my TV to the amplifier using the stereo-jack on my TV. Sounds like a crazy solution, so it must be good!
