Itunes Hub

Wed Feb 20, 2013 1:23 am

Ok so I've wanted one of these things for the novelty of it but i finally found an excuse-- I MEAN REASON to get one.
My laptop that has my Itunes and Skype is getting old and horrible so I was going to transfer it to my big gaming rig, but I like to listen to music and game at the same time. I want to be able to control their volumes independently and have the game out my surround sound and the music out my speakers.
So I had this plan, but I do know if it will work at all because I'm new to this. I'm going to buy a pi and attach a usb external harddrive to it and load it with Itunes. and put it on my wireless network so I can control it with my phone with apple's remote app.

Is this feasible? How much will it cost? All that jazz as well as your opinions. Thanks in advance.

You can't use itunes per se...but there are other programs that you can use to accomplish your goal. Take a look at:
- mpd & its various clients: http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Clients
- xbmc & their xmbc remote app
- a search for airplay in this forum

Thanks for the answer. I've slept on it and calculated the price and 91 dollars doesn't seem feasible for me at the moment. I thought this would be like 50 bucks tops but thanks! :)
