Anyway, launch a terminal and enter pcmanfm --desktop-pref. When the desktop preferences window pops up, click on the "Advanced" tab and deselect "Show menus provided by window managers when desktop is clicked." That's it!
When we changed the setting, we essentially told the Openbox Window Manager to take over the right-click duties. This switches it back to the PCManFM File Manager that we had by default.
Good luck!
Thanks for updating I have been looking for a solution for ages. I think it is a bug or bad over-site that this is not included in the PCManFM GUI menus.jkibbe wrote:It took me a while to figure this one out (and lots of failed attempts). The title of this thread was misleading. The real problem the OP had was when you right click on desktop then choose Desktop Preferences --> [Advanced] tab and put a check in the box next to:bossboy wrote:all i did is right click select desktop preferences and selected my image (i found it in downloads) double-clicked on the image name and it became my wallpaper almost instantly.

pcmanfm --desktop-prefWhenever you modify any file or directory which does not belong to current user (pi) /home/pi/...... then you must use sudo command.WRustyLane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2017 6:49 pmI know how to click the screen and pull up desktop preferences. That´s not the question. I want to know how to add a .jpg image file to pi/usr/share/pixel-wallpaper, since that´s where the desktop wall paper is stored in Raspbian Jessie. Every time I try to add a .jpg file to it it will not let me drag and drop that file into the sub folder /pixel-wallpaper. It only returns me to the pi/pictures sub folder. How do I get my own .jpg file added into the /pixel-wallpaper folder??? I do not care for the included .jpg files in the wall paper supplied by Raspbian Jessie. I want to use my very own file. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to unlock the /pixel-wallpaper sub folder to include my own .jpg file. Any ideas???
