Desktop and keyboard problems

Sat Feb 16, 2013 5:42 pm

Hi guys,

This is my first RPi.

When I first boot up and get the configure window and try to do the keyboard configuration I get an error saying that theres a error with the keyboard configure.

But the biggest problem is that when i use startx to get to the desktop, I get an empty desktop with only my mouse and the background.
I can left click, but none of the left click functions are working. Only restart and exit.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Which OS / distribution do you have installed?
I get an error saying that theres a error with the keyboard configure.
What is the exact error message?

I am using Wheezy Rasbian OS.

The exact message is: "there was an error running configure keyboard".
When launching timezone configuation I get: "there was an error running configure timezone".

I've the same problem with a clean installation of raspbian.
The error message using raspi-config is "There was an error running do_configure_keyboard".
Also for me using startx I've an empty desktop with neither icons nor panel.
Instead Raspberry is ok with raspbmc.
Have you resolved this problem?

P.S. Changing SD card I have the same problem, and the downloaded distribution has correct SHA1 check

UPDATE: I've solved my problems after several attempts of rewriting SD card.
