basic video player/gui and remote

Thu Feb 07, 2013 3:17 pm

Hi, I just got hold of my 2nd pi, a model a for use in the car connected to a cheap LCD screen for playing videos.

Xbmc would be overkill so I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a simple GUI similar to what I expect most dedicated video players provide - limited options and customisability but an easy to browse list of locally stored files with up/down/left/right navigation and select to play.

To go with this I would like a simple remote - something like the apple TV remote would be fine, and could even be wired by USB (even better really as it would get lost in the car)

Any ideas? Many thanks

Never thought of it as an im car player but Pi Presents with a DIY wired remote might suit. Use the menu to select videos, prepare shows on a PC or your first Pi using the editor.
