NFS vs SMB

SMB uses a lot of the raspberrypis CPU, and apparently NFS is much more efficient:

I can't say that I have tested it but I have been running NFS on my pi and it is stable and fast. Unless you have to serve windows machines I'd say stick to NFS.

It's certainly accurate for general Linux installations.

There's a reason critical services like VMware will talk to NFS - but not SMB.

It should be safe, without even trying it, to confirm NFS for more effecient.

However, what's at the other end? Is the hassle of getting your client PC talking NFS worthwhile? For many streaming media solutions, NFS support doesn't even exist.

A bunch of things; XBMC, Android, iOS, Windows8, OSX.
I was thinking of using NFS where possible to allow more concurrent access without maxing out the CPU. Seems like a pain though.
