I'm still pretty much a novice but have been lucky up to now on the projects I've tried - however tonight I'm having problems.
On a clean install of raspian wheezy (Tried both the latest 2012-12-16 and a previous 2012-10-28 image) my install of shairport is failing at the "make" stage. I'm getting a "cannot create regular file '/usr/local/bin/hairtunes': Permission denied" error. This is from using a clone of https://github.com/albertz/shairport.git. putting it onto a 2Gig SD card with nothing additional installed. Only performed apt-get update/upgrade, otherwise the system is in its virgin state.
Is this a known issue? I successfully installed shairport before Christmas with no errors but am trying it again as part of introducing a couple of collegues to the wonders of the RPi. I still have a backed up image with shairport working fine, but I'd like the lads to practice the install process themselves. Not much fun if it doesn't work
