Hi All - I have downloaded RetroPie but do not appear to have the joyconfig utility. I have set things up using my keyboard but where have I either gone wrong or where can I get the utility from ?

Hi, I had the same issue. I could'nt find "retroarch-joyconfig" utility, so I downloaded "RetroArch" from source. To do that, type

sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

from console. You must be at the "RetroPie" directory. Go to "Source-Based (Custom) installation" and unselect all options, except "RetroArch". After installation, you will have a directory "/RetroPie/emulators/RetroArch/tools/retroarch-joyconfig". I just moved "tools" directory to "RetroPie" and deleted "Retroarch". After that, you can call "retroarch-joyconfig" from inside "tools". If you have any question or doubt, feel free to ask.

Or you could just copy/paste this on the bottom your RetroArch config (this is for an XBox360 Pad) and alter accordingly (use jstest which will indicate the correct values for your Joypad).

RetroPie should contain everything required if it compiled correctly (evidently it hasn't). You could always try UltraSlim, its a small, self contained download, is also based on RetroArch/Emulation Station, has many of the same 'Cores' as RetroPie and includes XBMC. Raspbian Chameleon Remix and PiPLAY (which now contains a 'Built in' Joypad configuring Tool) are also available, for details see the Emulation on the Raspberry Pi Thread
