Bluetooth headsets, speakers - how to survive power off?

I've run into a problem using bt speakers. If I swiitch the speaker off then the PI crashes/locks up/loses its network connection after a few seconds.

Surely there are others seeing this ?

The only way to avoid this is to use the command:

bluez-test-device disconnect [bt addresss[

... and then the device can be switched off.

This is hardly practical in everyday use!

Does anyone know if there are any settings, config files to handle the loss of the device signal?
