Lazarus how-to update?

Wed Jan 09, 2013 10:55 pm

My nice Raspi says the version of Lazarus installed is 0.9.30.4. The Lazarus website says version 1.0.4 is available. I'd like to upgrade the Raspi. I've ventured to do <sudo apt-get upgrade> and <sudo apt-get update> but although this produced oodles of scrolling text, this has not changed Lazarus, and an experimental try at <sudo apt-get install lazarus> yielded a report that the latest version is already installed. Would a good talking-to sort me out, does anyone think?

Apologies for an almost identical double-post. A clear sign of traumatic post disorder stress.

The only way to get the latest version at the moment is to build your own from source...

See for example http://www.michellcomputing.co.uk/blog/ ... pberry-pi/

That provides a very succinct answer to my question and explains clearly just what is needed. I'm still a bit tentative about linux but I'd like to tackle the Lazarus upgrade as described, after making sure my current project in Rasbian Lazarus works. This is as a dedicated boiler-controller, so it seems I'll be buying a Pi version 2 first. Thanks very much for the lesson.
