Testing USB ports

Sat Jan 05, 2013 5:31 pm

Hi

Initially my pi was working fine but recently it has stopped responding to USB keyboard / mouse inputs. This was initially intermittent but now nothing works. The device appears to be otherwise unaffected however with no input this is difficult to test. I have checked the voltage across TP1 and TP2. This is around 4.95v with no load and with everything attached never appears to drop below 4.8v. Even so there is no response from my usb devices. Is it possible to test with a multimeter if the USB ports are working or can anyone suggest anything which may have gone wrong which I can test for.

Thanks

Try SSH to the device and run lsusb to see if the devices show up.
