Re: Defunct email service offers handhelds to hackers

For those of you who can't wait any longer for RasPi and desperately need to hack something: http://www.linuxfordevices.com.....leftovers/

Peek has discontinued its low-cost, email-and-texting service but is challenging hackers to "build something great" with the leftover handhelds, according to The Verge.  The Peek devices include a 2.5-inch screen, a QWERTY keyboard, an ARM7-based processor, and a GSM cellular modem, according to the company.

The Peek handheld was introduced in 2008 to much acclaim, including winning the "Gadget of the Year" award from Time.

you have to email amol@peek.ly with a prepaid shipping label and sounds like no questions asked although if you incl. your experience in the email it might be helpful.

I have sent an email asking if people in NYC can just go there and get one or not. I doubt it but it can't hurt to ask

Very tempted, but doubt I get one and it'll be another thing cluttering up the house I expect.
