Power symptoms but not power

Fri Jan 04, 2013 11:05 pm

Hi,
First day of my Xmas Pi has been disappointing as it constantly crashes when doing any exercise such as the example games or especially Midori browsing. From reading forums my symptoms are of poor power supply although using units others have found ok according to Wiki : Samsung Galaxy charger 5V 700mA and iPad 5v 2.1A unit.

So hacked my adjustable lab power unit and monitored TP1 and TP2 to set 5.0V. Then used oscilloscope to look for transient dips whilst exercising Pi. Whilst there is noticeable ripple due to varying Pi demand the volts don't seem to dip to problem levels.

Using preloaded 4GB SD card from Element 14 and it appears to be the latest release of Debian OS.

So what to try next? Any help much appreciated.

Paul

What are the symptoms that prompted the investigation?

I was just wondering if the cause could be elsewhere and that if it's not power then some of the other reported power issues may not be the case. ;)

If you find a solution please post it in the wiki the forum dies too quick
