Authentication required although my custom user is root

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the user rights regarding the desktop environment. From a fresh install I have created a new user and I followed all tips and instructions to give my user the same rights as the default “pi” user, with the intended to remove user pi (for security).

From command line everything works perfect, except when I want to run gpartition from the desktop, it requires “authentication”, which is logic with this type of application. However I can only select user “pi” and user “root” (see image below) and not my custom user. How can I add my user to this list? Although my user is part of all the groups as the “pi” user, am I missing something?

Use pi and your current password for the pi userid.

iirc gparted will only run from a member of sudo, if your custom user isn't a sudo member he will not get authority to run gparted.

It is a known bug that Raspbian does not trust the sudo group, and Raspberry Pi OS trusts only the pi user.

Add the missing 51-debian-sudo.conf file.
