PI 4 not booting

Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:22 am

I received my first raspberry pi 4 yesterday. When I first inserted microSD card with NOOBS on it, everything worked and I got to the OS installation screen. When installing the Raspberry pi OS it gave me an error about some file missing. Not knowing what to do i pressed ESC on my keyboard, the screen went black and I had to shut it down by pulling the power out. Ever since I have not been able to boot the PI. I have tried 3 different 32gb microSD cards with different OS on them (NOOBS, NOOBS lite, Raspberry pi OS, Raspberry pi OS lite) I also tried the Raspberry pi imager. When I power the PI the green ACT led flashes green 4 times every 2 seconds or so.
The microSD slot looks fine and the micrSD card works (i can access it with my pc) . I read through this thread but with it didn't help viewtopic.php?t=58151 I spent all day searching for answers but nothing helped. I will highly appreciate any help

Download this: https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/imager/imager_1.4.exe

Run that to completely overwrite your SDCard with the latest RaspiOS32 not the too old version of NOOBS that you've been shipped.

What happens to the green LED and what if anything do you see on your display if you power up the RPi4B with no micro-SD card inserted?

It still blinks 4 times, no signal for display

I tried the imager already. Installed NOOBS from this website so it should be up to date

Are you sure the SDCard reader you're using is compatible with SDXC cards?
Have you run the verify function of Etcher or the RPImager (which does a read-back checksum and compare after writing the SDCard)?
Are you sure the SDCard isn't worn out or fake?

Buy a brand new 16GB or 32GB branded SDCard and try writing RaspiOS to that.
Get a friend with a RPi to write a copy of RaspiOS to an SDCard for you?

It is possible that the SDcard reader is not compatible with SDXC, and I will try a different reader, but the first time I booted the Pi, I got it to the installation screen, so that makes me think that reader is not the problem.

As for sd cards being worn out- I tried 3 cards and I think it is very unlikely that they are all worn out. I don't think that they are fake, since 2 of those cards are Kingston and I bought them in a legit store.
Yes, I tested the SDcards
Will try a new, smaller card as you said, just to be sure

I don't really know anybody who owns a RPI

Have you eliminated the possibility that your SDCard is OK and your RPi has lost the magic blue smoke (or is in some other way destroyed).

I already contacted the RPI seller and asked about the option to return it because it might be defective
