Bricked RPI 3B+ Wont boot after installing fan

Sun Aug 02, 2020 10:06 pm

I was trying to install a fan, as i was connecting the three cables to the GPIO pins, i connected them incorrectly, and now my RPi 3b+ will not boot. The LED though does turn on. Can my RPi be saved or have i fried it? :o

Which pins did you connect to where?

It is very likely that you have killed the power control chip on your 3B+ and your Pi is now dead. Sorry :(

Vague memory of someone mentioning ....... You might have heavily tripped a polyfuse. Leave it with no power for two or three days and see if the polyfuse recovers.

I stand to be corrected if this is irrelevant.

Likely to be irrelevant given that the red LED is on.

Measure if you have 3V3 on the 3V3 GPIO pins, if you don't you have broken the power control / regulator chip, and it cannot be replaced.
