Retropie Kit help

Sun Aug 02, 2020 8:37 pm

Greetings,

My wife bought a Retropie kit (The cool Atari one!) from Amazon. I followed the instruction manual to the letter and got to the installation part. After a few seconds in I got the following error message: An incorrect file checksum has been detected in https://428bdf583b6e0eada306-2453f89633 ... pie.tar.xz. Since I have no idea what this mean I first contacted the makers (www.microcenter.com) and then I thought since it was Sunday and tech support was probably close I would see if my answered would lie somewhere on the internet. That leads me to this forum. Please help. This kit was fairly expensive and I would like to be able to play this as I am also trying to construct my own Retro gaming table as well. Thank you.

The Atari Games SD card from Micro Center uses the NOOBS program installer. This is based on reading the product questions, and answers on Amazon. After installing the operating system image, you have a checksum error in the terminal. This error is preventing the operating system from booting. I assume that is the problem, Retropie is not booting. If RetroPie boots without any problems, and you are able to access Emulation Station. I would ignore the checksum error. This error can be considered normal behavior. I have numerous questions to ask:

Does the operating system boot?
If the operating system does not boot. You will need to install the operating system again. Check to see if the error message appears again.

If the operating system does not boot the first time. Did you wait at least 15 minutes before powering down the computer?
First startup with a new operating system. The Raspberry Pi computer can take a long time for the computer to reach Emulation Station.

After powering the computer. Are you able to access the NOOBS program menu after hitting the Shift key on startup?
Hit the Shift key when starting up the Raspberry Pi computer. You will be able to access the NOOBS program.
