white bar on the side of my screen, how can I remove it?”

(this was typed on my raspberry pi 4) on the left side of my screen there is a white rectangle blocking it (https://imgur.com/a/Lw6kF3Y).

as you can see in the attached image it looks like it shifted chromuim to the left to make room for it. it has done the same thing to my desktop (https://imgur.com/a/BqDZQmn)

so what caused this major issue? right clicking the top of the screen and pressing "Create new panel" then pressing cancel, it just showed up.
so I really need help fixing this if anyone knows how please reply to this. (ive tried rebooting, logging out, unplugging from monitor, nothing works)

MORE IMPORTANT INFO: soon after doing this I was playing around in the add/remove panel items and i somehow accidentally removed the raspberry pi logo from the top left of my screen, so i cant access many of my things easily so i REALLY NEED HELP with this issue as well.

PLEASE HELP ME ON BOTH MY ISSUES ASAP

It looks like you have a panel there right click on it and you should get panel settings and then you can just delete it.

Oh I see you also deleted the Menu just right click on the top and click add / remove items and then click add and find menu

OMG thanks so much!!! although i am having trouble adding the menu. i added a menu, but i cannot see it on the taskbar, so i moved it to the top of the list and i still can't see it, how do i make it visible?

Try setting the icon to start-here

Now, the issues:

1. Blank panel. Right click, and click "Delete this panel", then click "OK"
2. Missing raspberry. Right click the panel, choose "Add/Remove panel items", select Menu" and add it. There may be some tidying up to do, but by now it should be obvious how. If not, ask.

NB D-E-A's advice is a "Preferences" setting from the "Add /Remove panel items" dialog.

Hey, take a chill pill. Just trying to help you get the most from your participation in the forum. Doesn't affect me, except I would have saved two lines and you would get my answer quicker.

I look at it this way if you had no idea what you had just done and your start menu is gone and there is a mysterious block on the side of the screen it could seem very scary to a new user. If you look at the image the OP has lost all access to launch new programs and even reboot (even if that isn't really the case)

I see your points too. however like I said this looks like a new user who made a mistake and needed some help to fix it and was panicked

Using all caps makes it look like you're yelling. Lots of people object to being yelled at. Secondarily, a "emergency" on your part does not make it an urgent matter on the part of anyone else.

Okay it's an easy fix from here. Right click on the panel and select panel settings, then click panel applets, click menu, and then preferences button. change the icon to start-here

Agreed, that works for me. Also make sure "Padding" is "4".

Indeed. When I worked on a service desk, ASAP was the lowest priority. It meant "Do this when you have a spare moment, sort out the important stuff first"

Anyone who thought that ASAP meant "highest priority" was sadly mistaken and put on the bottom of the pile of things to do.

People who assigned the correct priorities to their requests were processed in the appropriate time limit. ASAP had no time limit.
Fortunately we had very few customers who didn't understand that.
