I'm new to Pi, and I want to connect my Google Chromecast Audio to my Pi4. The only post along similar lines I could find was called "Pi and DACS question".
Like the author, I ditched my turntable years ago and want to replace my ageing equipment with something better that I want to build myself. Most of my music is now stored on my NAS, which was ripped from CDs and converted to FLAC. I uploaded this to iTunes (which I don't really like), and then Google Play Music (which I do like). I access plenty of music that I don't have on my NAS, so I want to keep this as a 'source'.
Trying to create the Pi as a 'chromecast built-in' device is likely to be beyond me. It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult, but the more I read and try, the more frustrated I get. I'll keep on trying as I like a challenge.
The alternative seems obvious. Plug my Chromecast Audio into the Pi4B, and stream audio. Advice on how to do this will be much appreciated. I can see various hardware options for connecting an HDMI (input) via I2S. Some require soldering skills, some don't. It would be good to find someone else that has tried to do this and succeeded.
I also then want to add analogue inputs to connect up the turntable that I will purchase in the near future
Fingers crossed.
