Disable backlight leds for generic 3.2inch plug-and-play LCD for raspberry pi v3.1

Tue Jun 23, 2020 3:07 am

Hi everyone,

I bought a cheap 3.2 inch lcd tft online. I connected it to a raspberry pi zero w and it works great!

One small problem though.

It does not support software backlight led brightness control. Apparently the LEDs are wired directly to 3.3V. I have seen some posts where people are hacking some 3.5 inch lcds to achieve software brightness support by adding a wire to a gpio pin.

I have attached the back of the lcd to this thread.

Do anyone know which resistor or chip pin I'm supposed to short or connect to a gpio?

I'm only interested in switching off the backlight. It does not need to have a gradual decrease in brightness.

Thanks everyone. I've been scanning the web for days trying to find an answer.
