Raspberry Pi 4 output not displaying on Samsung Touchscreen

Mon Jun 22, 2020 7:38 pm

Hi all,

Currently trying to connect a Samsung Touchscreen Monitor to Pi4 but it will not display. Raspberry Pi 4 is connected to power (and this works on other monitors [haven't tested on other touchscreens, just regular monitors]). Raspberry Pi 4's microHDMI is connected to the monitor. The monitor also has a USB sticking out of it (which I believe is to send touchscreen data to the computer), so I've connected that to the Pi, as well.

I know the monitor itself works because I connected an HP laptop to it. However, here are some differences that MAY be causing problems.
The laptop only has a DisplayPort (https://superuser.com/questions/598092/ ... anted-edge), so I have a DisplayPort to HDMI converter which plugs into the monitor.

The Pi 4 has microHDMI port, & my cable converts itself to HDMI. That plugs in to the monitor.

Thats the only difference in how the set-up is being tested. I believe it may be that Monitor is so old (because it is pretty old looking [can't verify how old it is]), it doesn't pick up microHDMI conversion? I'm not sure if that's a thing. I've checked other forums and did the force=2 thing, & I also made sure to plug everything in & then boot up the Pi. Nothing has worked so far, any other ideas are greatly appreciated!

I'd also like to add that I'm running the Raspberry OS on it (previously known as Raspbian)

I know the Pi recognized the monitor because I attempted to connect it to two different monitors at the same time (a non-touchscreen HP monitor & the Samsung touchscreen monitor). The Pi 4 created two "desktop" displays. I was able to see what the resolution output to the touchscreen was, but I can't quite remember now. (I can check again if this is helpful). So, it seems like it just the monitor not being able to display Pi 4, although Pi 4 recognizes the monitor and what to send to it.
