HI everyone,
I recently got into raspberry pi, and I am loving it. I am currently building an arcade machine centered around RetroPie, and so far so good. However, I just recently ran into a problem and I don't know how to fix it. A few days ago, I accidentally unplugged my pi before shutting down correctly. The SD card was corrupted and I had to reformat and start the whole installation process over. I got retropie installed again, and now I am having two issues that I think could be connected.
First, I am experiencing display issues. Before my card got corrupted, I could choose any resolution I wanted. Since the reinstallation, I am unable to choose any resolution other than the default in raspi-config. If I change it, then the screen will be blank on the next reboot and I have to blindly search for the raspi-config menu again. then when I get there, the only option i can choose is "default 720x480". there are only 5 or 6 other options, all DMT, and none of them work other than the default one. The weird part is, when "default 720x480" is the display on boot, my display shows a 1280x720 resolution.
My second problem is that I have no sound. Before the reinstallation, My sound worked just fine. However, now there is nothing. I have done what every tutorial online has told me to do. I have edited the config, I have messed around with both raspberry pi and retropie settings and have received no results. I believe that the lack of sound has to do with my inability to change my resolution. And yes, the hdmi-safe mode is disabled.
For reference, I am running a raspberry pi 4 with RetroPie 4.6 installed. I have an Insignia 32 inch 720p Fire TV. My theory is that the hdmi output setting for the pi is unable to output sound. But I am unable to change the resolution so I cannot check to see if that is correct. If anyone has any pointers I would love to hear them. I am really stuck and I know that some people might have had the same issue.
