Have you tried asking Canonical for support with their Operating System?

Raspberry Pi have a beta test of a solution for their own supported Operating System, RasPiOS. So I guess it is for other developers to follow their lead?

Maybe you should read my post in detail. I specifically say without microSD. With microSD is very easy to do

It's not possible at the current time. The USB boot is still in beta testing.

As always, when this comes up, the eternal question is: Why?

Why bother?

It works with boot from SD card (rootfs on your USB device), and is better for a variety of reasons this way.

The ultimate "because we can" project...

I'm absolutely serious about the question. I've never seen any convincing argument for wanting to "pure boot" from USB. They all end up being variations of/along the lines of "But it would be kewl..."

In particular, note that if your boot media goes bad (which can happen), which would you rather that boot media be - an easily replaceable SD card with nothing other than easily replaceable boot files on it, or your USB device full of your needed files?
GitD's list of things that are not ready for prime time:
1) IPv6
2) 64 bit OSes
3) USB 3
4) Bluetooth

Really?

Do you boot your PC from a floppy disk or CD, then have it transfer control to the hard disk?

What is the point of having two storage media where one is only used briefly to start the system and then unused for most of the rest of the time?

Also, that SD card could be used in something else. Not everyone has 300 spare cards lying around.
