Which pins connect lcd 4" to RPi please?

Fri May 22, 2020 3:06 pm

Hi

I bought the 4" lcd screen from the Pi Hut

https://thepihut.com/products/spi-4-320 ... creen-gpio

and looked at the instructions for installing it.

Everywhere I see, it states simply connect the two together. Not trying to be pedantic, but which pins? I'm afraid of frying both boards before I even begin.

The lcd header is much shorter than the pins on the RPi and so it can be connected over a range.

Surely I can't be the first person to ask which pins it connects to?

Many thanks for your time and kind attention.

Kevin

From your pi hut link, go to the Manufacturer Product Page, you will see a photo of it connected.

That screen appears to be made for the old RPi 1 with the 26 pin header. Newer RPi's have 40 pins.
In theory it should work if connected to the first 26 pins in the 40 pin header as the pin functions are the same. It may be difficult or impossible to get the 26 pin screen onto the 40 pin header without bending stuff.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Yes they claim it fits any pi, so if it does bend any pins you could get your money back.

Thanks for popping by and reading me.

Rather than another post - as it's the same peripheral - I've tacked this on. If you can help, I would be grateful.

I've been following these instructions for installing:

https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/4inch_RPi_LCD_(A)

All has gone well up to "Calibration" where the system suggests. '- - fix'.

I've gone onto the next one of 'mini keyboard' and again it's not playing.

I've done the same sudo commands in the root and Lcd-show but the same error.

Any help would be appreciated please! Thanks.

From your pi hut link, go to the Manufacturer Product Page, you will see a photo of it connected.
It also gives you the full pinout.

It maybe useful for others to say how you got it going.
