Help - R Pi Errors Boot Failing :-(

Hi,

Set up :
Rev B. Kingston SDHC 32GB Class 10 (SD10G2.32GB) ulitmate X 100X loaded with 2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.img

Note - I checked the SD card was valid on http://www.raspberry-pi.co.uk/2012/06/0 ... -sd-cards/ before buying it.?

Not connected to LAN
Keyboard/mouse connected via Logitec USB Wireless - problem occurrs irrespective of this being connected
HDMI connected LG TV

I get the following warnings/errors : (not complete)

VFS: Cannot open root device "mmcblk0p2" or unknow-block(179,2)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option; here are the available partitions:
b300 30908416 mmcblk0 driver: mmcblk
Kernel panic - not syncingL VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2)
... loads of other messages..... eventually
PANIC: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2)

Entering kdb due to Keyboard Entry (this is arrived at even without a keyboard plugged in)
kdb> (BUT I CANT actually input anything)

This happens on 2 R Pi units.

Any help/guidance appreciated..... i have a daughter who can't get to her xmas present

Have you another SD card to use? Its gotta be 4G or more.
Have you re-flashed the SD card, and checked its checksum on download?
What PSU are you using ?

I might not have the answers, but these will help others to assist.

I haven't tried another - need to get one ...

The PSU is from RS HNP06UK-MicroUSB, 5.0V 1200mA

The checksum on the download I have just checked using SHA-1for http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/images ... spbian.zip and it doesn't match !

I have tried 2 futher downloads from different mirror sites and i get the same checksum.

I have tried a different image 2012-09-18.img and I get the same issue.

Sorry I did not help much to isolate your problem.

How about a different version to check ? Try Arch or RiscOS to make sure its the software... see the downloads at http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads

Hi,

Update .... I found a 2GB microSD Sandisk and loaded with 2012-12-16-wheezy-raspbian.img and its up !

So the Kingston 32GB SD10G2/32GB cards are not working, what a waste of money !!!

Can these be put on the need to be proven list because the information on the link of valid SD cards appears to be incorrect - happy to be corrected......

Hi! One possibility to me is that the contacts on the SD card are dirty and need to be cleaned. If you very gently wipe them with a damp cloth or "Q-tip" (a small cotton swab), the card might be able to boot. I try not to touch the contacts on my SD cards to keep my finger oils off the contacts.

Same problem here. Kingston SD10G2/32GB bought after checking the compatibility list. This card is not working with raspberry pi. The strange thing is that i managed to boot raspbian but only once!!! Since that no way to reproduce it. Waste of money...
