Pi 4B 4GB Cloud + Plex possible same SD?

N00b here so i'm asking. Is it possible having personal cloud server (i want move out my 80GB of data from Google Drive) + Plex server (download from my pc/phone/tablet login directly on Pi storage and stream on TV), both on an 256 GB SD card i put in PI? Or i must have a separate HDD/SDD ? Thanks

In theory you could.
But I guess most would choose to use an external HDD or SSD. Should be more advantageous in terms of price and reliability, esp. if you plan on writing often.

I do posses absolutely everything in terms of hardware, is just the case i don’t know how is best for optimization. Yes, i do download daily basis movies and use the cloud files very often. With that in mind , why would i put a 256GB card and not 32 GB one? what will that extra space help me other than just running the OS?

In a computer volumes contain filesystems.
One of the volumes contains the OS and provides the root filesystem.
Extra volumes can be mounted to the root filesystem and add to it, e.g. in /my-movies

In other words a 32GB SD + a 256 SSD is fine. Put the files that change often in the SSD. An SSD has more write endurance than an SD.

If you get one big SD you won't need to bother with mounting an external volume. But it will wear out and then you'll have to buy another one quick before you lose your OS and your media files in one go.
