Video goes black while playing online media contents

Sun May 03, 2020 1:50 pm

Hi Forum,

I'm setting up my rasp 4 and I manage to fix many things so far (SD faulty card, audio output, SSH, retro-pie etc.., Disney+ 'codec' update...)
One thing i don't know how to handle is that the screen goes back after playing some video contents, such as you-tube video.
When it had gone black, the TV after a while lose completely signal with it and the only way is to reboot.
Any idea what should I check and/or set-up? Any config I should change?

Thanks and Regards,

Gabriele

Do you see the yellow lightningbolt icon? Maybe high CPU + GPU usage is too much and the Pi stops working due to undervoltage.
"the TV goes black" That sounds like screen blanking. What happens if you move the mouse? Does the screen come back on?
I've developed the most intuitive RaspiOS img editor on the planet.
With a GUI similar to Gparted, managing imgs and sd cards is a breeze!
Boot it in a VM, Flash from the Internet at top speed, Mount (to drop in files), Shrink/Expand, Repair, and more.

Thanks for the quick reply and sorry for the wrong terminology: I'll learn.
Yes, I guess this is what screen blanking means.
I am not sure about the yellow light: I'll try to replicate the phenomena e check.
The mouse is visible and it is moving. sometimes it becomes a hand when passing true certain positions in the screen (that I guess correspond with underlying buttons.. but after a while the TV loses the connections and the only option is to re-boot.
With the retro-pie sometime also happen, but with a CTRL+alt+canc I manage to go out from the screen blanking, but not if the blanking occurs during the playing of a media content...

Thanks again,

Gabriele
