DLSR SD card backup

Fri Dec 28, 2012 2:49 pm

Hi, my project idea is to build a media backup device for when I'm out shooting with my DSLR. The idea is to use the Raspberry PI to transfer images from a SD card to an external USB hard drive.

Since I have both a hard drive and a raspberry I thought it would be a good first project. But I would like some comments on my design. Would it be best to run the OS on the hard drive so I will be able to put my SD card directly in the raspberry or should I go for a USB card reader solution? And secondly, what would be the easiest way to control the software, could an android phone be a good solution? I want it to be as small ass possible.

The functionality would be similar to this product.

Any thoughts or comments highly appreciated!

USB Reader for the camera SD card since the Pi will need the inbuilt SD card slot to boot off.
