Spent a good part of the day getting this set up and I didn't see anything about it on here, so just making a note if anyone is interested.
I was able to set up a lighttpd server and get concrete5 up and running without much hassle.
Performance actually isn't as bad as I expected right now. Not fast, but usable for sure.
This is actually the first time I've touched a CMS, so if anyone has any better recommendations please voice your opinion.
A couple of notes:
- I looked at a lot of server setup guides during the process and mostly pieced together what I needed, but this guide was decent overall : http://www.penguintutor.com/linux/light-webserver
- Once you get to the concrete5 install, it will tell you what is missing. For me, I needed to enable the GD plugin for PHP (added it to a config file somewhere) and I forgot to change the permissions of the folders of the site for concrete5 (can be achieved with a simple chmod)
