Performance of a Pi Zero W as a Tor router

Sun Apr 26, 2020 6:05 pm

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum, I decided to join as I was doing some research on the internet regarding the performance of a raspberry Pi Zero W as a tor router and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if it performs well, have any of you tried it before?

Heavy crypto -- it'll be terrible. And that's before you factor in the wifi.

Too lazy to look up the numbers but the Zero is going to have to funnel the connection both ways through the WiFi that (I think) is limited by the internal design of the Zero.

For a router get a computer that offers two Gig Ethernet ports and can push then to full speed. Make sure the CPU supports any encryption you plan to use.
