Its working, but it won't let me get into servers because of an "invalid session". Does anyone know why?

Are you using an alt by chance that you didn't buy from mojang
If so your alt might have expired and raspberry pi still allows you to use minecraft but only in single player

I successfully installed minecraft 1.15.2 on ubuntu 20.04 but I got this error when attempting to do command to run

Code: Select all

./runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1.sh
I think that if it were able to run in ubuntu it would run better especially the arm64 version of ubuntu
The Error code I got was ./runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1.sh: 46: /opt/jdk/jdk1.8.0_241/bin/java: not found
When I go to that dirrctory everything looks the same as the same folder but on the raspbian buster sd card and I don't get this error in raspbian
I want to test the performance of minecraft 1.15.2 on ubuntu on the raspberry pi 4 B 4GB

If you haven't already please start getting ready to make the upcoming 1.16 version compatible with raspberry pi 4

This script installs 32 bit lwjgl3 libraries and 32 bit java, you would need 64 bit versions.

Not until versions of Optifine are available.

Why is Optifine needed to run minecraft
I was able to run minecraft 1.8.9 on an overclocked pi2 once and it didn't have optifine

I will retry the minecraft tutorial but on a 32bit version of ubuntu instead
I originally used 64bit version of ubuntu

Because Optifine improves performance and makes the game more playable.

I think you should update the optifine the current version as of this post is pre18G1
the version in the tutorial is pre13
It might be worth updateing it

I am redoing tutorial on raspbian buster but instead of optifine 1.15.2 pre13 I am using pre18
seems that it can be updated
I will post new command to install optifine pre18
Minecraft loads with the new updated optifine
Better performance with pre18

Disclaimer this is not a new tutorial to install minecraft 1.15.2
This is a way to update the optifine from the original tutorial
Download Optifine pre18 G1 jar file

Code: Select all

 cd~/Minecraft && wget https://optifine.net/downloadx?f=preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G1_pre18.jar&x=7bb2194409aec2fed77fb030214c6be7
Run Optifine

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft && /opt/jdk/jdk1.8.0_241/bin/java -jar preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G1_pre18.jar
Run Minecraft Launcher

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft && /opt/jdk/jdk1.8.0_241/bin/java -jar launcher.jar
If you aren't already select Optifine profile click play and wait until launcher crashes
Now run Minecraft from terminal window

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft
./runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1.sh
Now you have updated your optifine performance is just slightly better
Updateing the Optifine was tested in Raspbian Buster Full desktop on raspberry pi 4 4GB model
For those who had game crash it runs smoother than before
There is still a problem with game freezing then going back to normal
Updating Optifine to pre18 from pre13 makes it so the game freezes for less time
Try the newly updated optifine for better performance on minecraft 1.15.2 for raspberry pi 4 2GB and 4GB models

This isn't compatible with Raspberry Pi OS (64bit) beta
Needed is java for arm64
Then I can retest it
Still works with arm32 raspbian

Thanks for this. I was able to install this to the same directory and crazy enough I can run both versions 1.12.2 or 1.15.2.

The main hangup for me is the performance is much worse. I would typically get about 50-60 fps in 1.12.2, not I get about half that: 25-30 :(

I assume that there are few things going on here as 1.15.2 has a bunch more features that may be complicating rendering and OptiFine might be less efficient, preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G1_pre13

I do see pre18 in this thread. I am curious if others have tried that version and what kind of performance they get.

Your download location is broken (cd~ needs a space) and your URL is user/time specific. You need to modify the runMC script to change the OptiFine to pre18 from pre13:

Use this URL to manually place the file in the ~/Minecraft folder:
https://optifine.net/adloadx?f=preview_ ... _pre18.jar

Use this command to modify the script to point to pre18:

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft && sed 's/pre13/pre18/g' runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1.sh > runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1pre18.sh
The you launch it with:

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft
./runMC1_15_2_OptifineG1pre18.sh
I have not noticed any changes to performance with pre18 over pre13.

Give us a clue? Any other info?

Which Pi? Which OS? Fully updated? Nothing else running? Connected to HDMI monitor? Resolution? Which optifine?

Hello! Just installed the Pre 19, and I have noticed that 18 and 19 seem to have no sound. No idea if this is because of the Pi, or the version, even tried re installing, but it didn't make a sound. Also, whenever I try and join a server, I get a message, saying I 'Disconnected'

Much help appreciated!

What server are you trying to connect to? Are you using your own valid Minecraft account?

I am trying to join Hypixel and my friends Minecraft server. I am using a Minecraft account, but I haven't paid the full version of Minecraft on it. Too much money :D

Buy the game or don’t play. £18/$27 is a bargain for the amount of time I have spent on Minecraft. Support the gaming industry.
