Hey, I've just started my dive into Pi's and was wanting to run OctoPi on the desktop configuration, but I can't boot it in desktop, so I tried updating and got problem after problem. Eventually, I have gotten the errors in the title when I try to update and I have no idea what to do.
Any reply please speak to me and explain like I know nothing (which is true)

Looks like the package cache was not updated before the upgrade.
Did you run 'sudo apt update' or 'sudo apt-get update' first?

Before what?
I started my Pi up, ran the desktop installer, rebooted then done sudo apt-get update to try and get it to work after it initially not booting to desktop. After that failed I tried 2 handfuls of troubleshooting/solutions and got nowhere
