Use other screens with the official 7'' display adapter

Sun Mar 22, 2020 2:26 pm

Hi all,
I want to use the touch screen of my old tablet with a Raspberry Pi. Therefore I was looking for some kind of adapter to connect the display to the Raspberry Pi and stumbled across the 7'' display from the Raspberry Pi foundation.

I am not really sure what signal my display uses, I can only tell, that it uses a 40 pin awm 20624 80c 60v vw-1 cable to connect to the tablet mainboard. After some research I assume it's some kind of eDP or LVDS.

The touch component of the display connects via a 12 pin ribbon cable and is driven by an GT9271 IC.

I want to connect my display via the adapter to the DSI port of the Raspberry Pi
1) Could it be doable to use a Raspberry Pi with my display with the display adapter from the official 7'' touch display?
2) Is it possible to purchase an adapter whitout the screen?

Thanks in advance!

No. The LCD panel uses DPI. The board has a TC358762XBG to convert from MIPI DSI to DPI. The firmware only knows how to drive the panel supplied anyway.
