How to turn your Raspberry Pi into a media center

Mon Mar 16, 2020 6:06 am

If you want to exploit your Raspberry Pi, one of the recommended options is to turn it into a media center.
The best media center for it is Kodi which can be used for watching high-quality movies and TV shows.
There are two options for installing Linux distributions for Kodi: LibreELEC and OSMC

Here is a tutorial explaining how to install those two distributions on Raspbarry Pi: https://kodibeginner.com/install-kodi-raspberry-pi/

Can the Zero W run it?

Yes, the Pi Zero W will run Kodi (LibreElec) quite well. Just make sure to use a good quality microsd card like Sandisk Ultra.
The only possible problem is that there is no wired ethernet with the Pi Zero W, so the wifi reception to it has to be strong enough to prevent video stuttering.
