Possible Application

Sun Mar 15, 2020 10:40 am

Hi,

I'n new to the forum and wanted to say hi. I am also new to both the Raspberry Pi computer programming.

I have an industrial application which I wondered whether using a Pi would be possible.

The scenario is,

An air pressure switch is used sense the air pressure in a duct
If the air pressure in the duct falls below a set point, the switch opens and shuts power to a solenoid valve.

Thanks for in advice for any help.

A RPi or any "computer" is overkill for that trivial task.

Pressure sensor switch plus possibly a relay and PSU would be the majority of components needed to activate the valve.

Our first "how do I build a DIY ventilator?" post perhaps ?

Apart from an issue with the neighbour's cat which I'm going to have to figure out how to explain away somehow; bellows and a hosepipe looked to be a promising start </joke>

Best policy with damaged cats is to put them in a schrodingers box. It might restore them, so long as the owner doesn't look.

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

Something missing from the original post was that a fault light on a control panel needs to come on when power is cut to the solenoid valve.

I appreciate using a Pi may be complete overkill for this , but if the Pi can do it, it will be an excuse to learn how to use one.

Also, it may be cheaper that what is on the market.

Thanks again.
