Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Yes of course
Running either Raspberry Pi OS desktop Full or Raspberry Pi OS MATE desktop
Overclocked at 2147MHz CPU and 700 MHz GPU with a over voltage of 7, max or nothing
Think before you delete something a stranger on the internet told you to.

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
OK, and what about my other 2 questions?:
Once again: are you using my vdesktop beta version?
And what command do you have to run for this mate desktop to launch?
Also, does running x-terminal-emulator launch a terminal on your system? Or do you get "command not found"?

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Sorry my mistake
I will answer all
Using beta, No
Desktop, mate-session however I retested and it doesn’t work on vdesktop, however when choosing a different tty than 7 on the the actual machine, running sudo lightdm | mate-session gives a terrible resolutioned DE
x-terminal emulator it does have it installed but im on CLI only on vdesktop

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
This is interesting. Do you know if there is an img with a mate desktop, that I could download, for testing on vdesktop?RaspbianUser1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 11:16 pmDesktop, mate-session however I retested and it doesn’t work on vdesktop, however when choosing a different tty than 7 on the the actual machine, running sudo lightdm | mate-session gives a terrible resolutioned DE
If there aren't any images available, would you consider uploading your image so I can ensure it works?

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Sorry there are no MATE raspbian images publicly available and I would not give you mine due to sensitive data I would have to find and remove
However its easy to get a basic install following a guide
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/vie ... p?t=133691
It takes about 20 minutes on a fast connection speed
Make sure you start it on Lite

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Awesome tool !!
Especially boot function is very useful.
I ran PiPowerTools on Pi4B/4GB, kernel 5.10.
Booting works out of the box. Plenty of free memory - about 0,5GB used.
I switched to 64bit kernel and boot 64bit images too.
Making remixes of rpios is very simple.
In youtube 5 -10fps - can be watched.
One small problem - dphys-swapfile do not work in vdesktop.
Good job !!

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
The option to create incremental images is really interesting but when attempting to create an image of my SD card using the following procedure:
IMG MODE -> SD to IMG, specify name and location, click OK
I get the error:
sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified
Thanks

What OS are you running, and did you happen to disable passwordless-sudo ability for the non-root user?

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Thanks for your reply.
I had turned off passwordless-sudo ability. I turned it back on and its working fine.
Thankyou. Excellent software support.
So, a feature request, could the option for the user to enter the password at the time PPt creates the image be implemented? Rather than disabling need system wide.

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
I have considered doing exactly that, but considering the time required, and the tiny number of users who would actually benefit, I concluded it wasn't worth the time/effort.michael9000 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:38 amSo, a feature request, could the option for the user to enter the password at the time PPt creates the image be implemented? Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
hi Botspot,
After several weeks, i tried to install pi power tools on my rpi 4 4 gb, 128 gb card
installation went fine, i downloaded 3.7 gb img,
but on clicking booth it is getting stuck in boot console showing
Systemd-nspawn, Xephyr and Expect need to be installed for vdesktop to work. Proceed? [Y/n]
and nothing happens, i made image of buster 5 times, but boot failed 3 times showing some dependency failed,
2 times i got this issue
mounted /media/pi/vdesktop/etc/chromium-browser/customizations/noxshm
Mounted /media/pi/vdesktop/etc/chromium-browser/customizations/disable-gpu
Virgilrenderer server not found, but it's enabled in the config file.
Compiling virglrenderer in 10 seconds. To cancel, press Ctrl+C before then.
Failed to clone virglrenderer repository!
and no boot happens
please check for issue.

Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
i tried no success
https://ibb.co/h2gKgsM
No intent to push your thread to other side, but no way to contact you either way,
i am assuming that pi tools helped in adding dependencies automatically for my requirements for multi seat setup.
as i am facing issue in setup it, it worked for me few months earlier now i am unable to replicate result using same instructions viewtopic.php?t=243572
only difference left in equation is dependencies like xypher, yad, light dm.
Update
dependencies are installed successfully, but now error coming is Virgilrenderer server not found
failed to install dependencies for virgilrenderer
Re: Pi Power Tools: General Purpose Disk Image & SD Card Manager
Hmm, then maybe it's time to stop using Pi Power Tools to run vdesktop virtual machines, and just use vdesktop standalone.

You must specify a valid path to an image, that exists on your system, to boot it.
